FAQs

~ When should I book Joining Hearts Ceremonies?

You should book as soon as you have decided on a date, even if you haven't booked your venue yet.
Many officiants and other vendors book up to 1 or 2+ years in advance.
Short notice ceremonies can sometimes be accommodated as well.

~ Do you require a deposit?

We do require a 50% non-refundable deposit at time of booking for the Ultimate, Unforgettable and Simply Sweet packages in order to hold the date and time with the balance payable by the day before or at the rehearsal/pre-wedding meeting.

The Sealed with a Kiss and It's An Honour packages are payable at time of booking.

~ Are there any other additional fees?

A nominal travel/mileage fee from the perimeter to venue and back (per Google Maps) may be applicable for venues outside the Perimeter.  Fee is calculated the week before the wedding and is based on the cost of fuel at that time.  Applicable to ceremony and rehearsal.

For venues in downtown Winnipeg a nominal fee may be charged for valet service/indoor parking.  Applicable to ceremony and rehearsal.

~ What will Sheri and Heather wear?

We will wear conservative, business-style attire, usually black or black with white.  When possible we will also try to co-ordinate with the colour theme.

Sheri also has a black cloak and white stole with gold rings and hearts she can wear for a more judicial or reverent look if requested.

~ Do we need a formal rehearsal?

Our Ultimate Package includes a rehearsal or pre-wedding planning meeting.  Rehearsals can be added on to the other packages for only $125.  Small ceremonies do not usually need a full rehearsal as the format of the ceremony may be discussed with the couple via telephone or video meeting.

Prior to the ceremony on the wedding day we will arrive approximately 20-30 minutes before ceremony time, meet with the couple and their attendants to inform/remind them of the logistics for the processional and recessional.

~ What name do I sign the Marriage Licence with?

You would sign the documents with your name prior to marriage.

~ What if Sheri or Heather is unable to perform our ceremony?

In the very unlikely event something unforeseen comes up and either of us is unable to perform the ceremony the other will fill in or we would provide another commissioner at no cost to you.  We will ensure the commissioner has your ceremony and your licence.  We work with a group of highly experienced marriage commissioners who help each other out when needed.
